Study On Uygur Proverbs

Language is a tool with which man thinks and senses the world. Proverbs are the comparatively special category in language symbols, which are finalized and habitually used ready phraseology, which are summarized by the masses. They are easy to understand, sometimes are expressed with sentences with rhyme which are rich in content and succinct in style. As a unique language phenomenon, proverbs contain profound cultural content when they express thoughts and feelings by specified form of language structure.Uygur proverbs are the crystallization of Uygur language art, which can reveal the cream of Uygur language with accuracy, image-vivid words and phrases and short and strong rhythm-distingtive sentences. Uygur proverbs are the wisdom flower of the social life soil in national language. The unique cultural style of the Uygur proverbs have been formed from the different social histories, natural environment and mode of production and way of life. The unique cultural characters and morals of Uygur language are formed based on the unique thinking mode and natural characters of the minority refracted in the Uygur proverbs.Based on the above my thinking, and a great number of Uygur proverbs, which I have collected, the analysis and study on the characteristics and cultural intension of Uygur proverbs are conducted from the two angles of language and culture.The main structure of the thesis is divided into two parts containing nine chapters.In the introduction part, the characters of Uygur proverbs are shortly introduced and the great significance of study Uygur proverbs is described, based on using the achievements of the forefathers, and my own ideas about study methods of Uygur proverbs are suggested.In the first part containing five chapters, the rhetorical characters of Uygur language are investigated.In Chapter One, the principle of division and explanatory meaning is put forward in accordance with Uygur proverbs studied by linguistic circle, combining linguistic theory, semantic content, grammatical structure, syntactic function, compared with idioms and aphorisms.In Chapter Two, on the basis of the sematic characters and form of expression, the sematic content of proverbs is analyzed. Among them, the characters of sematic content and different expression forms of the proverbs are described in great detail.In Chapter Three, the grammatical structure of proverbs is analyzed. According to the grammatical structure of Uygur proverbs, structural models of Uygur proverbs have been concluded from various angles. The Uygur proverbs are divided into three types such as verb predicate sentences, adjective predicate sentences and noun predicate sentences, which are separately analyzed in great detail. The grammatical meaning and structure form of interrogative sentences and imperative sentences in Uygur proverbs are inverstigated from the angle of mood expression. The ellipsis sentences and non-main clauses and complex sentences in Uygur proverbs have also been researched.In Chapter Four, the musical characters in Uygur proverbs are approached according to metres of speech flow and rhyme.In Chapter Five, the different key elements of language have been drawn from the common rhetorical way, five kinds of replacements models, four kinds of analogue methods, hyperbaton and antithesis in Uygur proverbs. There are two exaggeration rhetoric methods in Uygur proverbs such as magnifying exaggeration and reducing exaggeration. The antithesis rhetoric methods are often used in Uygur proverbs.In the second part of the thesis, the splendid national traditional culture refracted in Uygur proverbs is analyzed.
