Doing research on a certain subject, most benefit gains the researcher himself. Therefore the first part of this thesis, the "Introduction" is about the relation of the thesis and its author: The author is familiar with the phenomena of second language. By unfolding a systematic research on the subject of second language, the author reflects about the subject of second language, improves his knowledge about the problem of second language in the whole and constructs ways to handle and to develop practical abilities to cope with each problem of second language; this way, he brings about his personal values and serves the good way of society.Doing research on a certain subject, the longterm significance expresses itself in the significance of its theory. In the second part this thesis puts forward the concept of second language studies. It applies the theories and methods of linguistics, social science, education and other related sciences, as well as the systematic research on second language acquisition, second language teaching, the process of socialisation of second language and other problems of the second language in the linguistic branch of applied linguistics. This indicates that the content of research on the subject of second language is research on second language acquisition, second language teaching and the process of second language socialisation. This considers that the content of second language studies is abundant and relates to many sciences, but in the center of all is the research on second language. The theoretical framework of second language studies does not only help the author to clear, to organize and to raise his personal understanding of the subject of second language, but more important offers a theoretical framework for the whole of society to reflect on and explore the subject of second language.Doing research on a certain subject, the ultimate significance is its practicability. After a discussion about the basic framework of second language studies, this thesis connects this closely with the author's familiar situation of second language problems of Xinjiang in its third, fourth and fifth part. In proper order it launches its research on second language acquisition, second language teaching and the problems of second language socialisation and points out some initial theories and viewpoints about the second language study. Discussion about second language acquisition:The language environment can widely influence the kind of language learned, the method of learning, the goal of learning and the success of learning.The language environment, learning method, ways of break through, in which a person learns his first language will influence his second and third language learning.The ideal way of learning several languages is, to use the first language to learn the second language and use the second language to learn the third language in the environment of each goal language.Discussion about second language teaching:There are many different schools about second language teaching abroad, but at the core they all recognize an ideal model for learning languages and every teaching school is realisation of its ideal model the within particular conditions.In the past, in the center of the resesarch on Chinese language teaching in Xinjiang there was the contrast between the Uighur and Chinese language structures and this already turned into a system, which effectively instructs the Chinese language teaching in Xinjiang.The introduction of the Chinese Level Examination is a revolutionary change in the Chinese language teaching in Xinjiang. But because there are some deficiencies, the Chinese language teaching in Xinjiang has to develop its own system of Chinese Level Examination.While improving the Chinese level examination, the Chinese language teaching in Xinjiang has to develop the reform potential brought by the Chinese level examination and to practise a thorough target management.
