Within the whole area of social science and humanities,cross-cultural study is a general trend since the 20th century,and cross-cultural subject becomes nearly a prerequisite with which every social science and humanities should have to face first.Especially in the times of global developing by integration,not only can't cross-cultural study be avoid to, but also it is extremely essential too.An "overairhuman culture field of vision,and "locally", "the indigenous Charateristic"analysis under this vision,is going to be the inherent interaction mechanism in human science study.With the prospective of this general knowledge background and academic idea,this paper grasps the situation and question in the Chinese aesthetics in the 20th century by means of the scholars view on comparative aesthetic during the first half of the 20th century.Through analysing the scholars attitude towards Western culture and their thought about the ralation between Chinese and Western art and aesthetics, this paper reflects the great theme of modernity "reincarnation" of Chinese aesthetics. Meanwhile,through making a show of the contradiction it met and the fault it make in the course of this reincarnation of Chinese aesthetics,the paper suggusts that Chinese Aesthetics in the first half of the 20th century was short of the cultural prerequisite.lt is one that the last part of this paper puts forth effort to analyse and solve.There has been both a history retrospect of the the development of Chinese Aeshtetic, and a deep consideration about realities.And more,the theme of cross-cultural study that is reflected from the view on comparative aesthetic echos the recently aesthetic anthropology study.The whole paper is divided into two parts,and consists of seven chapters.The first part induces the scholars' view on comparative aesthetic (art) and their studies, and draws the century subject of Chinese characteristic of Chinese Aesthetics.The last one analyses those questions in the research of the comparative aesthetic and Chinese Aesthetics.Moreover,in"Introduction",the paper reveals the deep meaning of "compare"on the human wisdom aspects against the fault understanding in "compare"in recently comparative studies.In the main text,the first two chapters talk about the appearance of the scholars' "world consciousness" under the press of Western ideology and culture,and their thought course of thinking the relation between Chinese and Western art and aesthetic.The third chapter investigates concrete reserch under the tension between the Western Aesthetics and Chinese Aesthetics by means of comparative aesthetic. It is to say,this chapter shows how they informed traditional artistic theories against Western aesthetics,and how illustrated the characteristic of Chinese Aesthetics.From the theory of universe evolve,the forth chapter explains the production of Chinese modern aesthetic with the principle of enroulement,and see the success and failure of Chinese Aesthetics during the first half of the 20th century. At the same time,it pointes out that Chinese Aesthetics study needs the cultural prerequisite.Following two chapters exploit the questions of comparative aesthetic and Chinese characteristic of Chinese Aesthetics with the prospective of anthropology of art.In view of the complexity of human culture,the former disscusses the common characteristic and specific characteristic of human art with the material of anthropology of art.Using the material of archaeology and folklore,the latter gives a cultural analysis to Chinese characteristic of Chinese Aesthetics and arts .Under the background of knowledge globalization,the last chapter shows that anthropology of art should play an important role in the future study of Chinese Aesthetics,and expect to launch the experimental writing of Chinese Aesthetics in new century,in order to represent the new view on the overall pictures of the world aesthetics.
