This dissertation, including ten chapters, is aimed at researching the Neolithichuman skeletons from Jiangjialiang, Yangyuan in Hebei Province, China. It is aresearch by different methods such as ethnology, odontology, paleopathology,dietary analysis and other referenced study such as archaeology and ancient DNA. Chapter one. Introduction In this chapter, the author briefly introduces the geographical location ofNihewan Basin, and summarizes the former research in prehistoric anthropologyand archaeology. The author introduces the geographical location of the Neolithicsite of Jiangjialiang in detail and reviewes the prevenient research. Furthermore, theauthor synthetically introduces other skeleton research of different ancient culturesnearby. In the end, the author expatiates on the meaning and aim of the research ofthis dissertation. Chapter two. The appraisal of gender and age and life-span analysis At first the author expatiates on meaning of appraising gender and age, thencalculating the obituary age and average life-span. In according to the research ofarchaeology, demology and biology, the author analyses the proportion of genderand the reason of the life-span difference of male and female. Chapter three. The incontinuous morphological observation of skulls The clear result is made by the author after a detailed observation, theNeolithic residents of Jiangjialiang belong to the big Mongolian. Chapter four. The nonmetrical trait research of the skulls The skulls of Neolithic site of Jiangjialiang are observed and investigated, andfurthermore, the author paddeds the vacancy of explaining for some nonmetricaltraits and introduces the bifurcations in denominate of some nonmetrical traitsamong scholars. In order to find the new and effective nonmetrical trait for research,the author observes three nonmetrical traits of Jiangjialiang skulls. 269Chapter five. The nonmetrical trait research of the teeth By using the method of dental anthropology, the author research themorphological traits of the tooth of Jiangjialiang skulls and the author thinks it isperhaps there is a obvious correlation between racial character and dentalmorphological traits. Chapter six. The research of measurement The result of research shows that Jiangjialiang residents belong to a sameracial system and they have some sub-racial types. Chapter seven. The research of ethnology The author validates the correctness of the theory related to ancient Chineseracial system brought by Pro. Zhu Hong, and on the basis of this system, the authorpoints out the obvious difference between Ancient Northwestern Type and AncientNorthern Chinese Type. The author believes Jiangjialiang residents belong toAncient Northern Chinese Type. Chapter eight. The research of paleopathology The author examines the whole skeletons of every body carefully, and explainsthose paleopathology phenomenons according to the correlative reference. To thoseunknown paleopathology phenomenons, The author describes them in detail andanalyses the possible reason of them. Chapter nine. The dietary analysis The author expatiates on the meaning of the dietary analysis, and selects 9trace elements as the basis of the dietary analysis. There are 17 appropriateindividuals to be analyzed. The author thinks main food resource of Jiangjialiangresidents is vegetal, and the results of research show perhaps there is a difference indistributing foods, or maybe they have the different dietetical habit because someresidents get more carnous foods than others. Chapter ten. The calculation of stature The stature level of Jiangjialiang residents belong to the northern type. Thisresult is a additional evidence to prove that the stature level has a phenomenon thatthe northern groups are higher than those in southern China since Paleolithic Age. Chapter eleven. The rem...
