| Tillich, one of the most representative thinkers in the philosophy ideological trend of contemporary western religion, holds the good reputation of 'great master of contemporary theology'. In addition, his thoughts on philosophy and theology have been receiving general attention from scholars in Hong Kong and Taiwan since 1960s, which attract extensive concerns in the academic circles of mainland in recent years. Owing to researchers' different theory visual angles, value orientation, and issue consciousness, however, the present studies on their thoughts are still lack of systematicness, comprehensive and deep quality. Besides, it's difficult to fully explore its theoretical value. Therefore, this dissertation makes a systematical research and overall grasp in terms of cultural theological dimensionality, and examines Tillich's philosophy and theology thoughts within the visual field of western cultural criticism in the 20 century. Tillich regards the Christian theology, especially protestant theology as his theoretical foundation and thinking criterion for criticizing on modem culture; chooses the alienated situation of people in modern society, especially the vacuity caused by cultural psychic division and meaningless dilemma as his essential subject; considers building a system which takes Christianity as its spiritual substance, accordingly, giving people ultimate concern as the basic theory interest of cultural theology. Tillich analyzes people's ontological anxiety as well as its times' characteristics from the angle of Christian theology, and explores the nature and origin of modernists' existence dilemma. He takes the stance tomake theological interpretation and theoretical conformity towards some contemporary chief cultural trend including existentialism, depth psychology as well as Marxism. Tillich's criticism on 20th century western cultural crisis supplies the deficiency in sheer rational criticism, consequently possesses significant theoretical and realistic meaning. |
