| Knight-errant is a social phenomenon exclusively in feudalism Chinese society. Once it excited, its spirit permeated into all the social stratums and have been passed down by generation, with people admmireing and commending. There is a very special relationship between knight-errant and Chinese antiquity literature. From before-Qin prose to Qing knight-errant fiction, knight-errant are always the character of literature, and play different roles in different times. In aspect of prose and fiction creation, after Si Ma Qian's first recorded a resident knight-errant that was mistaken by all people aroud him, the figure of knight-errant is often found in Tang, Song, Ming,Qing fictions, with a great deal of prise from scholars. In asppect of poetry, knight-errant's getting extoled started among the people in Han, knight-errant1 began to be character of shcolar in Wei-Jin period, and get more and more popular after that. So, the Chinese knight-errant poetry get to be a very important phenomenon in the Chinese poetry history. The study about knight-errant poetry's development is still nearly empty. And discusstions at present only tell a superficial phenomenon that the poet eulogize the action and spirit of knight-errant to express their wish, but, the more important and more deep-going, the spirit essence that make the poet's non-stop eulogizing knight-errant have not got researched deeply. All these still needs to be discussed to a further step. Above all, I try to do a systematize research of knight-errant poetry in the view of history, and to reavel the spirit essence of the poet in their creation of knight-errant poetry, to do my best to do some contribution to knight-errant literature if possible. The development of knight-errant poetry can be divided into 6 stages roughly, they are: origin (Han dynasty), creation and developing (Wei-Jin-NanBei dynasty & Sui dynasty), upsurge (Tang dynasty), inherit and change (Song, Yuan dynasty), restore ancient ways (Ming), resurge (Qing). Stages are separated by the different spirit of knight-errant poetry in different time, because most shcolar' creation of knight-errant poetry' are in order to creat a figure of spirit that suit the schloar themselves mental anticipate. So, there is an obvious tendency of routinize in expressions, skills, contents, and art styles used in creation of knight-errant poetry in all times, and imaginings andallusionss are used repeatly. So, it is difficult to find the creed of art creation of knight-errant poetry. We can say, the development history of knight-errant poetry mainly express the history that poets tell their wish, speak their will by means of actions and figures of knight-errant. Their aims is to express that they were embracing the world, to serve the world, to serve the people, just as Confucianism's spirit. This articlewill do some study on knight-errant poetry in Han--Tang dynasty, the study aboutknight-errant poetry of dynasties after Tang Will be done in the future.This article includes 2 parts: preface and text, with 4 chapters in text.
