The whole thesis can be divided into two parts, with the third one being the conclusion. The first part explores the procedure and the mode of West's entry to literature. The West, gains attention in the early times of the New Era from poetry, novels, and movies, but with different characteristics though with a certain generality shared, which meets the demands of psychological, emotional and aesthetic. Added with the stimulus of special cultural environment, the West and the Western literature have become a peculiarity. The West, as a relatively independent aesthetic object, enters into the artistic field, thus forms a special featured Western literature. The second part mainly analyses the regional features of the West literature presented in the works of literature from four aspects. The first aspect is the emotional and spiritual feature of the natural space description in the Western literature. Nature is not the mere stacks of objective and inanimate matters; instead, it is wholistically a symbol of spiritual garden that is full of emotion, inspiration and thinking. The second aspect is the analysis of the character images in the West literature. In the West literature, the most prominent image is that of men with different presentations, but on the whole shows the generality of fierceness. Women, in the Western literature, mostly related to daily life and sex, full of maternity, but stupid and trivial. The imbalance between men and women establishes the frame of manliness hi the Western literature. The third aspect is the tradition of love description, which began from Zhang Xianliang and Jia Pingwa, strengthened by later writers continuously, until the overflow of sex description. This is possible in that the remoteness and distance of the West help to give vent to some forbidden impulse. The sex description in the Western literature, without exception, describes the male centralism that is in accordance with the nature of manliness. The last aspect is the exploration of the creating techniques of the Western literature. It mainly is expressing emotions, no particular plot but with implied messages. Some writers have the tendency of weakening the plot.To recapitulate, the thesis expounds the regional features of the Western literature. With the help of regional forces, the Western literature is described as a "otherness", with super tempo-spatial abstractness and idealism, which provides a transcendental and critical dimension, and thus special aesthetic styles and artistic works. Due to the overemphasis to spirituality and idealism, with more or less the away-from-the-reality complexity, the Western literature plunges into the crisis of fixness, typicality and formularization in creation. In the concluding part, the thesis analyses the new features and tendencies in the works of Liu Liangcheng and Shi Shuqing, looking forward to the possible direction of the Western literature.
