Life is differ from art. Music of local operas adopted the method of"yi qu duo yong"(one melody with various appliances )according to its own special law. This method carries a basic character of folk music and also displays some special technical features. The thesis deeply discussed the essential feature of "one melody with various appliances" by thorough analysis of the general phenomenon of the most typical, representative structures of local opera's music, that is the ban qiang system, such as pi huang qiang melody of Peking Opera, and the qu pai system such as the nan bei qu of Kunqu Opera. The thesis argues that the method of "one melody with various appliances" could not be considered as a naive expedience of local opera's musical creation, instead, it is a method that suits the formula character of the local opera which is adept with both actual and false; it also fits its audiences aesthetic conceptions; it mutually complements with the Chinese cultural way of thinking called "Ju ben er yan zven"(means extend the meaning based on the foundation)in the field of local operas, and reflects the aesthetic principle of "unity of diversification.
