The study of epigraph grammar is weak in comparison with die study of epigraph on history and archaeology. Therefor, no books based on all the ever-published epigraph material has come into being needless to say the specialized study on epigraph grammar. The reason lies in two aspects, one is that the epigraph is difficult to recognize and realize. The other is that the dispersal material is difficult to collect.The Stack Material of Epigraph (SME for short) takes in epigraph ever published by the year of 2001 .SME affords us great convenient conditions in the study of epigraph grammar. This thesis based on SME thorough study on epigraph grammar, especially on the word order. There are eight volumes in the thesis. Volume one, the passive structure and word order, is the discussion of passive sentences of identifications or none identification. It is addition remarks on the area that has never been discussed, and also a correction on the sentences that have been misunderstanding. Volume two, the structure of double-objects and word order, provide a description of the use of double-objects structure based on 36 double-objects verbs. The type of double-objects and the word order of double-objets have been discussed in the volume. The word order of object and complement has also been summarized. Volume three, The structure of appositive and word order, summarizes the types of appositive and their word order, including the word order of appositive itself and the appositive in the sentence. We try to explain some special word order of appositive. Volume four, the structure of preposition-object and word order, gives a though inspection on the structures of preposition-object existed before the verb or after it from the use of preposition and meanings. The comparison of these structures of preposition-object ends in some regulations. Three kinds of words and their word orders have been discussed in volumes, 6 and 7. The usages of negative adverb have been discussed in volume 5. Volume 6 sorts out 16 conjunctions in the epigraph of West Zhou Dynasty. The function of these 16 conjunctions and their word order language unit connected by these conjunctions have been summarized. Volume 7 enumerates the usages of 38 classifiers in the epigraph of West Zhou Dynasty. The matches of classifiers and names, the usage of classifiers have been discussed in the volume. Volume 8, special word order, inquires into the postposition of attribute, the preposition, the postposition of adverbial and the inverted subject-predicate. Some word orders reflect the difference between epigraph and documents handed down from ancient times.The rule of combine meaning with form and the three planes' theory of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic are abided by in analyzing grammar. The methods of analyzing sentence are sentence composition analyzing and immediate constituents analyzing. Alternative analyzing, meaning features analyzing and etc. have also been adopted if necessary.
