Yang Shoujing Academic Research

This thesis mainly researched the learning of Yang Shoujing from three aspects: - - .Academic activities of Yang Shoujing抯. Mr. Yang didn抰 admire official career and had concentrated his attention on academic research for about five decades. He worked hard in some subjects, including Historical geography, Edition and Bibliography, Epigraphy, Textual Criticism, etc.and he had plenty of work. His works and opinions had ever exerted a great influence in domestic academic circles. His theory of calligraphy had great effect on transformation of calligraphy in modern Japan, thus, he was addressed as 揊ounder of Calligraphy in modern Japan? In his learning career, Mr. Yang associated with many scholars and important personages of political circles, so the research of his academic activities in all his life can mirror the developmental veins of traditional science in modem china. Undoubtedly he was one of important representatives of Qian and jia school in late Qing dynasty. r. Textual Criticism of Mr. Yang抯 works and edition. Although it has been only eighty years since he passed away, Mr. Yang had a lot of works, some of which hadn抰 been finished during life time, some of which hadn抰 been published for lacking of money. So it isn抰 clear about his works and edition all along. According to a large quantity of datum, this thesis made textud criticism and drew a conclusion that Mr. Yang had 25 types of works about Historical Geography, 18 types of works about Edition and Bibliography, 37 types of works about Epigraphy. 8 types of works about Textual Criticism and 3 types of works about Study of confucian Classies.The total is 91 types of works Among them,the tertual criticism of edition of((Commentary and Subcommentary to water Classics))made corrections and breakthrough at research before it. H. Research of Mr. Yang抯 learning and achievemerts. In many learning of Mr. Yang抯 research, he made the greatest achievements on Historical geography and Edition and Bibliography, in which ((Commentary and Subcommertary to Water Classics)) , ((The Formal Land map of Past dynasties)) , ((The record of searching for Books in Japan)) and so on. Received high praise from academic circles. This thesis made a thorough study in the following aspects: Three stages of writing ((Commentary and Subcommentary to Water Classics)); Mr. Yang抯 judgement about the case of zhao and Dai plagiarizing ((Commentary to water classics)) each other; Mr. Yang抯 achievements of Historical geogrphy and its status; the block-printed edition in his collected books and its value; Mr. Yang抯 achievements of Edition and Bibliography and its status and so on. This thesis adopted the form of monographic study, discussed the acdamic activities in all of Yang Shoujing抯 life, made the situation of Mr. Yang抯 works and edition clear, also it studied and evaluated Mr. Yang抯 achievement and status in Historical Geography, Edition and Bibliography.
