Recalling the prose of the1990s is a happy thing. Not only because of a large numberof prose texts, we feel the beauty of literature and contemporary literary hope, but alsobecause the writing of Chinese intellectuals still retains courage and responsibility, thelatter apparently is worthy of commendation more. The more Literature is difficult, themore readers look forward to literature. This expectation is actually an aspirationfor profound thought and the assuming of spiritual. Fortunately, with the impact of popularculture and popular literature, the prose of the1990s did not live up to suchexpectations of the readers. In the form of prose, Intellectuals make the discussionto various "Chinese problems",and the prose is recognized by readers because of theexpression of personal and social reality closely linked. The intellectuals also makeself-identity in a positive interaction.In1990s, prose hot spot,Scholars prose, Cultural prose, Older Generation prose,Western prose, Little women prose, New media prose, etc. after another, is involved in thepromotion of the intellectuals, and achieved fruitful results. The prose of the1990s followsthe tradition of modern Chinese intellectuals prose writing, therefore, the review to theprose of the1990s only combine with the study of intellectuals of1990s, we can trulyunderstand the cultural connotations and climax causes of the prose of that decade, moreimportant, we can provide a viable path for the future direction of the Chinese literature. The paper is divided into three parts, introduction, body, and conclusion. Introductionfocuses on the origin of this study, the academics' Studies, and research ideas. Body part isdivided into six chapters, the first chapter briefly summed up with the background on thisarticle topics, cultural context of Chinese society in the1990s, literary situation, the survival status of intellectuals, the focus is to explore the causes and a basis in reality of"Prose climax" as a literary phenomenon, as well as the cultural context of intellectualsprose writing style. Chapter II to Chapter VI, I analyze some prose writers and their workswhich are able to fully demonstrate the mode of intellectuals' self-identity, such as moralcharacter, social role, functional location, academics feelings and secular values, whichare interrelated but also independent of the five major aspects of intellectuals'self-identity. In specific studies, I combine cultural studies with literature and social studies, cultural studies focus on the social and cultural environment and background of theoreticalanalysis as the basis to commence; literature study on the basis of cultural studies, integratethe specific, personalized, Timing, and Eastern Western cross-sectional analysis, and striveto study text with depth of thinking. Social research focuses on the analysis of the "Chineseproblem" which present intellectuals concerned about and their proposed solution path, andin close connection with literature and cultural studies to expand. The same time, theinspection of the prose of the1990s can not just be limited in this period, the1980s or evenearlier associated background must be linked with, the history is also a focus of thisarticle. On this basis, the value of prose in the1990s assess on the level of literary historyand intellectuals study. In the end, the article also noted that the good momentum of the1990s prose did not keep it in literary writing of new century, when the prose of the1990sre-ignited the hope of the literature, the intellectual failed to extend the hope. Compared toreflect on some mistakes of prose in1990s, the intellectual make the biggest mistakes.
