| With the development of science and technology, language teaching research has achieved greater success in the field of pedagogy. The projects on various learning patterns indicate that foreign language teaching is not only the interaction of teaching and learning, but also the integration of the research achievement in various fields. At the end of the last century, educators began to study and explore the conscious and unconscious teaching methods. By now, conscious and unconscious teaching patterns have received plenty of acknowledgment and emphasis among educators.Based on the theories of language learning strategy and the achievements both at home and abroad, the writer builds conscious study's learning pattern with respect to applied linguistics, cognitive psychology and second language acquisition in order to help the learner form a good learning habit and self-teaching ability. Although it is at the elementary stage of'conscious learning'at home at present, the writer hopes to explore the best foreign language teaching pattern which is adaptable to students'psychology and their cognition development levels. This dissertation, which adopts empirical research, aims at exploring the application of the consciousness notion in the language teaching methodology, discovering the relationship between the conscious and learning strategy and finding the influence on the choice of learning strategy. Meanwhile, the dissertation focuses on the method of conscious learning and learning motivation, the relationship between learning attitude and learning performance and the influence. In this dissertation, the advantages of the cooperative learning and group learning have been discussed. The research took the students of Harbin University of Commerce as subjects, and analyzed inductive and descriptive statistics. The research adapted from Oxford's strategy inventory for language learning (SILL) widely used at home and abroad (1990, English version) as a research tool. Excel 2007 and SPSS 18.0 statistical software were used to analyze and summarize the data. Regression analysis was done by taking the results in achievement of CET band -4 as the dependent variable, various strategies, motivation, and consciousness of learning as the independent variables. Data were collected from the scores of 152 students in their three English finals and with their TEM Band-4, 235 students with their CET test results and survey of their learning strategies.Based on the descriptive statistics of the data, t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), the results show that: conscious learning method has great potential as a means to promote the cognitive development of students and to improve students'learning motivation. It is an effective way for learners to choose their own e learning strategies and to motivate learners consciously to learn and improve learners'learning efficiency and achievementThe results also indicates that conscious learning method can promote students'cognition, boost their learning motivation, improve the efficiency to choose appropriate learning strategy, encourage students to learn actively and improve their learning efficiency and performance. Meanwhile, conscious learning, being an effective teaching method, can be applied to College English teachingFinally, two suggestions are put forward to educators and learners. For educators, they should apply the concept of conscious learning to the teaching process to maximize the potential mobilization of learners which can make them become subjective consciousness learners. For learners, they should be aware of their role of consciousness in learning, and develop their own consciousness ability accordingly. |
