The Phonological Patterns Of QieYun

The period of Middle-Chinese is a very important stage of Chinese language history,during which QieYun is one of texts of phonological materical.QieYun links to the late of Old-Chinese and itself was based on phonetic changes.At a certain extent,the forms of phonological patterns of QieYun may run down to Old-Chinese's layout. QieYun has aroused many schloars'attention,but until now,there are many unresolved matters existed still bewilders us. In this dissertation,our study is based on the Kanmiu Buque QieYun(刊谬补缺切韵)of WangRen-xu(王仁昫)Also,the rhymes of poems,ex-territory loanwords,Sanskrit-Chinese Traslation and Chinese dilacts are our Reference System,in hope of doing some Quasi-Static Depiction and Dynamic Analysis of Phonological Patterns of QieYun and wish it can do good to the study of Middle-Chinese Language.In this dissertation,we research all of the fanqie of WangSan,then do some inducement-arrangement and statistical analysis work systematically.So we can use the results of we get to compare with late Middle-Chinese,revealing the differences and investigating on its patterns'forms resulting from QieYun. We achieve the following aspects:1,Rhyme-categorises of LuFa-yan's QieYun has some hierarchical nature.In the texts of QieYun,isolated rhymes and non-isolated rhymes can cut the rhyme-categorises into two parts,so does the non-isolated rhymes, the hub of which is the relationship of opening mouth and closing mouth phonetics.These two patterns of QieYun,to a certain extent,represent the features of early Middle-Chinese.Up to Tang and Five-Dynasties,the new patterns'formation is based on the changes of initials,finals and tones.2,The co-use and single-use rules of rhymes'book of QieYun-series comes from requirements of periodic pronunciations,which can also be confirmed by late Middle-Chinese.3,The Medial is the endowments of differences for fanqie-doublets,and the rules of "second words of fanqie-determination" has universality principle.But when the second words'initials of fanqie in fanqie-doublets is sonority,they can serve as A,B types'the second word of fanqie-doublets.During QieYun,the retroflexed feature of B-type is very obvious,duing rhyme-table,especially in QieYun ZhiZhangTu(切韵指掌图),the-(?)-medial's retroflexed feature of B-type was abscisicing. 4,Comparing to QieYun's phonological patterns,there are some changes of late Middle-Chinese phonetic system.1)Initials:Light lip sound has come out of heavy lip sound, so does full-voiced sound's devoicing. Furthemore,palatalization is also the common phenomenon of the time.But complication and opposition was the topic in the system of initials.2)Finals:the same division rhymes mostly has been converged. The III and IV division rhymes has converged in Kaimeng Yaoxun(开蒙要训),these are very important phonetic features. The rhymes which have same endings often have something in common becouse of the transfering of main vowels, the entering tones rhymes of QieYun have become-? and-p endings from -p,-t,-k endings patterns.3)Tones:The Rising tones with full voiced sounds have become falling tones.And the level tones maybe differentiate yin and yang level tones,but other tones still have one type.The tone pitchs are not common from QieYun to late Middle-Chinese language.5,Tang and Five Dynasties'sanskrit-Chinese translations,Chinese-Tibetan translations and rhymings of poems have some commons.6,The phonological patterns of QieYun in south and north dilacts of Chinese language have some variations,but commons also exist.7,Tang Dynasty,the poets's classical-style poetry and regulated verse were always obey the regulations of rhyme books.In the Modern style poetry,current pronunciations are very obvious, and they can response to the material of translations.
