Mainstream Culture Since The 20th Century Chinese Painting

"Mainstream culture", is not only a theory research proposition, but also has practical significance. At first, the author of this paper infers the general features of mainstream culture based on the studies of culturology and politics:1, mainstream culture reflects ideology of governor;2, mainstream culture carries benefits of the state;3, judging the value of mainstream culture depends that if it fits the development of the world——these three features are undivided and of dialectical unification. Then, this paper selects some characters, works, events which connecting Chinese oil painting since the 20th century to discusses, in order to reveal the influence of mainstream culture.Through research and demonstration, the author wishes to recognize the path of which mainstream culture impacts art and seek a reasonable location of "mainstream" and "non-mainstream" in art creative works. On this basis, the author tries to have an objective understanding of mainstream culture——both in connotation and denotation. This may offer some available theory for constructing the mainstream culture of harmonious society——and it is the reality value of this peper.
