The bactericidal effect of home-made ofloxacin(OFLO) was determined with M.leprae infected CFW mice,Using kinetic method, it showed that no growth of M. leprae in the foot-pads of infected nice as late as 12 months after treataent with 150mg/kg home-made OFLO by gavage 5 times weekly over a period of 63 days.It suggested that the home-made OFLO showed strongly bactericidal effect. In contrast with this result, treatment of mice with 150mg/kg imported OFLO by gavage 5 times weekly or with 10mg/kg RFP by gavage once weekly over a period of 63 days resulted in the same bactericidal effect.Treatment of mice with 150mg/kg PFLO by gavage 5 days weekly resulted in the growth delay of M.leprae of 174 days with the bactericidal rate of 97%.It also showed that the bactericidal effect of OFLO was superior to PFLO.This study provided a laboratory data for clinical treatment trial.
