| Vascular Dementia, (VD) represents various psychic dementia syndrome which belongs to brain trauma caused by cerebrovascular disease. It is significant to study the treatment of the senile VD because of the rising incidance with the social development.Objective: Under the base of previous experiment study, this study is purposrly to observe the clinical curative effect and machanism of Congsheng capsule, a combination of traditional Chinese medical herbs in treating senile VD.Method: 48 patient (45-80 years old) with VD were chosen according to the diagnostic criteria and were divided into two groups by the random and double-blind way: Congsheng Group(A,treated group)24 cases, Hydergine Group(B,controlled group)24 cases. Congsheng Group were given Congsheng capsule and simulate Hydergine, po. three times each day for 12 weeks contiously. Hydergine Group were given Hydergine and simulate Congsheng capsule, po. thrice each day for 12 weeks contiously. The clinical curative effect and security of Congsheng were evaluated by the statistics based on the MMSE and BBS, ADL MMSE.Result: The total effective rate of Congsheng group (A) was 66.67%. The result showed that the effect in the MMSE and BBS, ADL of the Congsheng Group were similar to that of Hydergine Group,there was no difference among the two groups (P>0.05).The result showed that the blood , urine , stool examine and ALT,BUN,Cr,APTT,PT,ECG had no evident change, and these of Congsheng Group were near to those of Hydergine Group (P>0.05).Conclusion: The main pathogenic machanism of VD is the deficiency of the vital essence of liver and the kidney and the impairment of the brain due to turbid toxic material block in the body. So the principle treatment of VD is to nourish and supplement the liver and kidney, eliminant turbid and toxic material out of body., removing blood stasis from the channels.Congsheng capsule has notable, safe,.reliable effect on VD. |
