| The doctrine of viscera-state is the core of CM (Chinese Medicine). Its main research methods are philology method, experiment method, multi-subjects method, etc. Statistic method is seldom used to study the doctrine of viscera-state and is a new method according to literatures. It is necessary to study the original thought and research methods as well as the basic attributes of a theory when using a new method on it. The foundation of the doctrine of viscera-state has 3 factors: anatomic knowledge, observation of physiological and pathological phenomena and antique philosophy.Anatomic knowledge is the start of the doctrine of viscera-state. A part of the theory is direct embodiments of anatomic knowledge and is not influenced by philosophy. By and large, that part is objective and scientific. The observation of physiological and pathological phenomena provides a large amount of sensate material for people to analyze and find laws from it to build theory. At the same time, being part of the doctrine of viscera-state, the visible relations between phenomena are a kind of laws. The method avoids the need of studying the complex structure and partial functions of the human body, and can well describe human being's physiology and pathology. But the shortages of the method influence the veracity and accuracy of the theory.Antique philosophy has 2 functions in the doctrine of viscera-state's foundation. One is to systematize the large sum of observation of mankind's vital activities. The other is being a part of the theory. However, the particularities of surmise and obscurity of antique philosophy are embodied in the doctrine of viscera-state and bring mistakes to the doctrine. On the other hand, the doctrine of viscera-state has the features of functionality and systematism.CM holds that the human body itself is an organic whole and studies its laws via functions. So the main content of the doctrine of viscera-state surpasses the anatomic structure and based on the whole functions of the human body. The doctrine of viscera-state believes that the human body is an organic whole and the internal organs compose 5 systems according to the physiological and pathological laws and 5 elements theory. Every system itself forms a systematic system connecting to each other physiologically. The routes are channels and collaterals and the media are jing, qi, blood andjinye. The 5 systems also affect each other pathologically and connect to nature and compose a large system with it.So the thinking process of the building of the doctrine of viscera-state is: Beginning with original anatomic knowledge; accumulating a large amount of material by observing-s-physiological and pathological phenomena; analyzing the material being directed by antique philosophy. The theory has the features of functionality and systematism. This study of the physiological functions of 5 viscera follows the process but substitute statistics method that is more scientific and objective for antique philosophy to induce material. The characteristic of focusing on correlation and relation of statistics method embodies the systematism of the doctrine of viscera-state.Thus, from the point of view of the original thought and features of the doctrine of viscera-state, it is reasonable to study the physiological functions of 5 viscera via analyzing clinic symptoms with statistic method. This study uses Ming Yi Lei An by Jiang Guan and Xu Ming Yi Lei An by Wei Zhixiu as the resource of clinic symptoms. Create an AccessS? database for the storage of data.According to the preparatory analysis, lung and kidney are chosen for being studied. Because their special symptoms are clear and physiological functions based on anatomic knowledge are doubtless. The symptoms of heart, liver and spleen are more complex and many of their physiological functions are irrelative with anatomic knowledge. The statistic methods used are reliability analysis, factor analysis, principal component analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and... |
