Aging refers to the process in which as the body grows, develops and gets mature, the physiological function gradually declines, degenerative changes happen gradually to tissues and organs and eventually death occurs. Nowadays, aging of the international population is becoming more and more serious,Study on the mechanism of aging is always the forefront of the biology and geriatrics. Both Chinese and western medicine have its own theories, which enrich the theories of aging. As the Chinese medicine theories are broad and profound with its minor side effects,It is becoming more and more popular to appiy tradition Chinese medicine to slow the aging."ShaShenMaiDong Tang" is a representative prescription from "WenBing TiaoBian "to clear lung and stomach, nourish dryness by enriching the saliva. Among the theories of the Chinese medicine, the empty caustic influenced theory is the most important, it points out that in the process of aging, though the kidney plays the leading role, function of the lung and stomach can not be ignored. The "SuWen-YuJiZhenCangLun" says:"the five zang-organs, all gather Qi from the stomach; stomach is the origin of the five zang-organs." The famous doctor of the Qing dynasty Jiang Bihua sayed:" wax or wane of Feiqi determines the short life or long life." It is evident that stomach and lung also play important role in the aging process."ShaShenMaiDong Tang", to a certain extent, has the function of delaying aging progress by nourishing the lung and stomach to enrich the Qi of the spleen, kidney and other zang-fu organs.Traditional Chinese medicine has irreplaceable advantage in slowing the aging process. But Chinese medicine has complex and multiple composition, which makes it difficult to explain the mechanism of Chinese medicine on the disease. Maidong is the monarch drug to nourish "Yin"of Lung, clear heat of Heart.Domestic and foreign scholars successively isolated many ingredients from Maidong. Among them, ophiopogonin,as the main one of the effective components, has the functions of significant oxidation resistance, promoting cell proliferation, etc. So choose ophiopogonin D and "ShaShenMaiDong Tang" together for analysis of anti-aging mechanism. This experiment,by testing the followfactors:index of the spleen, the thymus and liver, blood fat, oxidation index, the cell cycle, the cell apoptosis, relevant apoptosis gene protein expression and by observing the morphology, discussed the anti-anging mechanism of "ShaShenMaiDong Tang" and ophiopogonin D from different angle, the conclusions are as follows:"ShaShenMaiDong Tang" and ophiopogonin D have the function of delaying senility, and this function may be realized through the following mechanism:1,"ShaShenMaiDong Tang" can increas the the declining immune function of the aging body by increasing the thymus and spleen index.2"ShaShenMaiDong Tang" can reduce possibility of arteriosclerosis.by reducing cholesterol of the aging body.3"ShaShenMaiDong Tang" can protect cells by promoting of the aging cells and repair morphology of the aging cells.4" ShaShenMaiDong Tang" can restrain caspase-3protein expression in the aging boby and increases apoptosis Bcl-2or gene expression, Thus aging can be inhibited.5,15umol/1ophiopogonin D and10umol/1ophiopogonin D have certain protective effect by promoting the aging cells and repair form of aging cells,.6,15umol/1ophiopogonin D and10umol/1ophiopogonin D can control the cycle of cells and apoptosis, reduce proportion of the Gl-phase, promote cells to S phase, and reduce apoptosis rate of cells.7,15umol/1ophiopogonin D can cut down protein expression of apoptosis factor caspase-3of,and reduce cell apoptosis, it has the best anti-aging effect.
