ObjectiveAssess the long-time outcomes of the patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies and to evaluate the prognostic factors.MethodsThis was a follow-up study of 60 patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies by assessing clinical characteristics, outcomes and the potential prognostic factors.ResultsIn this study,39 patients were women and 21 were men. The patients showed the symptoms of muscle weakness (60/60), dysphagia (23/60), chest tightness (19/60). The clinic improvement rate was 68%, while the relapse rate and mortality rate were about 10% definitely. The Logistic regression analysis showed the factors, including chest tightness (OR=13.20), dysphagia (OR value=3.36), limb muscle strength (OR=2.12-3.78), the ADL score (OR value=1.06) were statistically significant related to prognosis.ConclusionThe majority of patients undergo good prognosis. Complications occur most commonly in patients with cancer, heart disease or lung disease. More attention should be paid, once patients show onset of severe symptoms, and the complications of chest tightness and dysphagia.
