To examine the effect of pGRF gene plasmid on growth performance protein metabolism and hormone secretion of swine and to make out the related regulatory mechanism ,two experiments were carried out. In experiment 1, 30 Landrace X Taihu piglets (initial weight: 5.07kg) were selected and divided into 5 groups randomly. Each group was alloted to one of five treatment, injected with 0 0.250.5 1.0 and 2.0mg pGRF gene plasmid. All the pigs were raised under a same condition and fed with a same diet (DE: 14.28 Mi/kg CP:23.9%). When the body weight reached to 7kg, 2 repetitions (4 pigs) of each treatment were used for N balance trial. On the third morning during N balance trial, ?N-Gly solution was induced into stomach by canula. Protein metabolism indices were measured with three compartment model by using ?N as a tracer. Growth performance, hormones (GRF lGF-l. GH.. SS) and metabolites (GLUS BU CR TG) in blood were also examined. The result showed that: pGRF gene plasmid increased the growth performance. The effect depended on the injection dose. For treatment of 1.0 nig pGRF gene plasmid ,end weight (EW) increased by 20% (P<0.01) ,average daily gain (ADG)increased by 43% (P<0.01), feed consumed/gain dropped by 14% (P<0.05). Average daily intake(ADI) increased by 23% (P
