The nanostructured fibers were synthesized by a sol-gel process combined with electrospinning technique. The fibers were used as a kind of new cathode materials for micro-batteries and their electrochemical properties were detailedly investigated in order to increase electrochemical performance. The contents include the preparation of the fibers and the control of fiber morphology, the investigation of electrochemical performance as cathode materials for lithium ion batteries.In the chapter one of this thesis, the sol-gel process was introduced briefly. The contents include the phylogeny, character and principle of the sol-gel process. The procedures involved in the sol-gel process including the hydrolysis and polycondensation of the metal alkoxide, gelation, aging, drying and heat treatment were recommended in details. A great deal of attention had been paid for the influence of the processing parameters on every step. In the below content, the electrospinning technique correlative with the preparation of the fibers was introduced, the content including the phylogeny, principle and procedures of the electrospinning. The development of the electrospun set-up involved in the modification of collector and spinneret. The main factors effecting on the structure and shape of the fibers were introduced in datils. These factors incloude the voltage, the distance between collector and spinneret, the concentration of the electrospun solutions and the volatility of the solvents. In the third, the phylogeny, principle and composing of lithium-ion batteries were reviewed. The importance of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries was investigated and the criterions of the feasible materials as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries were listed detailedly. Afterwards, the development of cathode materials was reviewed in detail. In the end, we also described why and how chose this thesis, and put forward the target we want to reach.
