The construction of Large-scale hydraulic projects substantially improved the efficiency of the development and utilization of water resources in China, and through the way of water quantity regulation and storage, power scheduling, water supply and water transportation, to achieve the aims of flood control, hydropower generation, water supply, shipping, and realized remarkable social and economic benefits.In this paper, on the basis of identification of water supply security, flood security, energy security, ecological security and shipping security in the time scale and spatial scale in the research region, the regulation demands of cascade reservoirs joint operation in the upper reach of Yangtze River have been further analyzed, and then key technical issues have been proposed. Based on the theory of complex giant system, the content and characteristics of open cascaded reservoirs joint operation complex giant system have been described, a multi-objective cascaded regulation joint regulation technology framework of the upper reaches of Yangtze River basin is proposed based on comprehensive integrated methodology.The characteristics of precipitation and runoff in the upper reach of Yangtze River basin have been analyzed through homogeneity analysis, trend analysis and point mutation with the application of analytical methods, the influence on cascaded reservoirs joint regulation by the change trend of various hydrological and climatic elements have been analyzed, and significant impact on the typical period to reservoirs storage by special and temporal transformation of rain-off has been further analyzed.Relies on the generalized system of cascaded reservoirs joint regulation, cascaded reservoirs joint regulation simulation model has been constructed, regulation simulation schemes are divided into natural scheme, recent scheme, medium-term scheme and long-term scheme according to reservoir construction situation, impact analysis have been done to water supply, flood control, hydropower generation and ecology. Under long-term scheme, influence on the middle-low reach of Yangtze River under different storage period of Three Gorge is analyzed.According to the problems and demands finding out by analysis, super large cascaded reservoirs joint optimization regulation in the upper reach of Yangtze River is done. Regulation function display optimization technology based on multi-objective evolutionary algorithm and Regulation function implicit optimization technology based on flexible constrained nonlinear optimization have been used. Non-inferior solution set is got by regulation function display optimization technology on the basis of multi-objective evolutionary algorithm through the construction of multi-objective regulation scheme evaluation index system and regulation scheme multi-level fuzzy optimal selection method, multi-objective equilibrium solution can be given. Research suggests that optimization regulation is looking for better solutions to solve practical problems, rather than pursuit the biggest benefits of optimization results. Regulation function implicit operation cannot guide reservoir regulation directly, need through regulation simulate result are more convince.Through the results comparison between regulation function display optimization technology based on multi-objective evolutionary algorithm and regulation function implicit optimization technology based on flexible constraint nonlinear optimization, suggests that regulation function implicit optimization is more suitable to the joint regulation only to pursuit hydropower efficient, display optimization technology based on multi-objective evolutionary algorithm have reached a good level in every aspect, such as hydropower benefit, water supply benefit, ecological benefit, is selected as the recommended program to cascaded reservoirs joint optimization regulation.
