Maintenance And Repair Technology Supports Of Modern Historic Buildings

Modern historic buildings were built in specific historical period in modern China, is the witness of modern history. With the concept of heritage protection becoming popular, the value of more modern historic buildings are recognized, which are paid more and more attention on by people. Most of those buildings are more than 100 year old, some of which are suffering natural weathering and improper damage or neglect and show obvious signs of deterioration. So for the maintenance and repair also has become welcomed to slow its deterioration process. But now maintenance and repair of modern historic buildings has many problems between which show misalignment and imbalance of the protection theory and practice.This paper attempts to study the modern historic building materials, elements and construction methods, discusses the popular testing technologies of modern historic buildings, and signs and causes of specific deterioration, analyses the cases of restoration, to seek appropriate maintenance and restoration technologies.Referring to the advanced technologies of protection and repair, combining with the situation of repair in China, this paper analyses the characteristics of the international common technologies and inappropriate usage and consequences in the past, to provide technical reference for further success.Interspersing with cases of the wanghailou Catholic church and the original Zhejiang xingye bank restoration in Tianjin which the author took part in, as important cases, considering characteristics of building materials and construction methods, analyses both domestic and foreign cases of restoration, provide maintenance and respair technology supports of modern historic buildings.Through all above, discussing relate problems and attentions of maintenance and restoration technology, to provide guidelines and solutions of specific operations. Because of complex of modern historic buildings, maintenance and repair technology of which includes many fields. It is difficult to contain all of them, so this paper mainly discuss maintenance and repair technologies of common materials and elements of buildings and try to provide reference for further restoration practice.
