Automotive suspension springs, one of the key components of an auto, is responsible to a car's safety, comfort and adaptation to different roads. Thus, a good suspension springs will be one of the guarantees of these performances.This paper focus on the suspension helix spring, based on elastic mechanics, computational mathematics and other basic theories, taking multi-model CAPP solution as the main technology, and supported by suspension spring experiments, developed the software of CAPP as the application technology of modern suspension spring research, and finally works out the arithmetic of optimistic design and related theories, which serves as reliable useful theories and notes for suspension spring design and researching, also guarantee the quality of automotive springs in manufacture.What introduced in this paper are:1,Introduction of the development and present technical condition of suspension springsWith related literatures and papers, an explanation of the suspension spring's development in the world is made. Based on this, analysis in suspension spring's key technology and problems are worked out. And then, a later analysis in this research's significance in this research is come out to set the direction for this project.2,Analysis the basic theories and practical application of suspension springsSeen from the analysis in suspension spring's basic characteristics, suited analysis conditions for different springs are pointed out. This will serve as basis for suspension springs research. And then, analysis in suspension spring's basic mechanism and its solutions are made with the two key themes---rupture and damping. At last, suspension spring's range of stress and material suitability are presented as reference theories of material choosing in design.3,A fast modeling and finite element analysis technology of suspension springsThis paper presents the key technology for fast modeling by different 3D software in 3. Besides, finite element analysis in different models with FEA software will help to achieve this goal. Suspension spring's S-S macro analysis and S-S micro analysis present the key technology in Analysis 2. 4,Put forward mechanical analysis ways for different angelsKnowing that, suspension springs deforms by absorbing and dumping energy, analyses are made to find out the relationship among energy change, volume and the maximum shear stress. It gives the way of experimental verification, theories, CAE analysis and optimization of mathematic model to springs design and material choosing. Also gives new theories and manner of research and references for automotive suspension springs design, material choosing and structure optimization.
