The HIRFL-CSR is the National Scientific Mega-Project and the magnet power system is an important one of the CSR control systems. Ions in a synchro-accelerator are kept within a synchrotron ring and accelerated by magnetic field, to make the magnetic field increasing and decreasing synchronize with the movement of the ions,the currents through the magnet coils have to vary following their setting values without delay approximately and to avoid the ions deviating from the track. In this paper modern control theory is applied for the accelerator power supply to improve the character of the output.The state value model of current source is made. The Quadratic Optimal Control is implied to increase the tracking performance of output current. To find the optimal control the genetic algorithm is used to find the weighting matrix of the linear quadratic optimal controller, thus the best feedback coefficient is eventually found. All the work is simulated in the MATLAB, and the character of the output is compared between the system which have the optimal control and that have not.The state observer is implied in the regulator. A new kind of discretization is used to make the feedback more easy and quicK.And this method is verified to be true by the MATLAB simulation.The state feedback is completed by the multiplication and add algorithm between the state values and the feedback coefficient. So there are many multipliers in the hardware circuit of the digital regulator. The regulator in this device is made on the FPGA which have several parallel worked multipliers. A fast multiplier is designed in this paper to make sure the quick feedback is attained...
