“Large but not strong” is a long-term problem for the management of enterprises andresearch on enterprise competitiveness has always been one of the hot issues in the aspect ofacademic research. Economics believe that the enterprise is an input-output “black box”.There is no difference among all the “black box” in economies, which fails to explain thereason for differences between enterprises that participate in competition under the sameexternal environment. Management science regards sociological and psychological factorsincluding entrepreneurship, corporate culture and business philosophy as reasons for thegeneration of enterprise competitiveness, causing doubts to objectiveness and science ofenterprise competitiveness. Therefore, a new theory will be adopted to explain the generationand evolution of enterprise competitiveness.In this article, the theory of complex network is introduced into the study on enterprisecompetitiveness. The generation of enterprise competitiveness is influenced by many factorsincluding internal factors and external factors. Through analysis of internal factors ofenterprise competitiveness and the interaction between them, the article regards enterprisecompetitiveness as a node of complex network, the generation and evolution of enterprisecompetitiveness as the vibration of the node, simplifying the influence of external factors intoinfluence from competitiveness of other nodes.The article uses the internal coordination of node vibration to explain the generation ofenterprise competitiveness, which insists that enterprise competitiveness comes from theco-evolution of enterprises’ innovation ability, profitability and immunity. The Rosslerequation from chaos theory is also applied to simulate the evolution process of enterprisecompetitiveness. The hypothesis is used to explain enterprise structure factors and culturalfactors influence on enterprise competitiveness.The article analyses characteristics of network which consists of enterprisecompetitiveness, puts forward evaluation method of enterprise competitiveness based oncomplex network, believes that evaluation value of enterprise competitiveness is a function ofenterprises’ innovation ability, profitability, immunity and importance of the node.Taking the economy made up of participants of Dongying natural gas market forexample, the article constructs a network of enterprise competitiveness. Through the analysisof network value distribution, the article proves that network of enterprise competitiveness isa scale-free complex network. At the same time, the article evaluates the importance of thenode in the network, analyses the competitiveness of the main nodes on the network and thereason for its generation. Finally, combined with theory of complex network, the article analyses how to use thenet to improve their competitiveness, putting forward the optimal strategy.
