Three volumes of manuscripts from the Nakamura collection in Tokyo have been published in 2005. This was the first time that those manuscripts collected by Nakamura was revealed to scholarly circles. As this book was distributed with internal sector, so the current academic circlese to these manuscripts also less.This paper was based on 228 manuscripts which was collected by Nakamura, a part of these were discovered in Dunhuang or turpan, and others were Japanese literature handed down from ancient times. This paper was centered on Chinese character and calligraphy.This paper was divided into six chapters. The introduction intrducted Nakamura and the edit and publishment of these manuscripts collected by him. At the same time, it posed the scope and methods of these manuscripts. Chapter one introducted the basic components, research value and the research results of Nakamura collection. And also discussed the real or forge of these manuscripts. Chapter two was focused on the unstandardized variant Chinese character, discussed the definition of unstandardized variant Chinese character, how to demarcated the unstandardized variant Chinese characters. And figured out the Chinese characters we can’t recognized. Chapter three was focused on calligraphy studies about these manuscripts, and this chapter was divided into three parts:the calligraphy of Nakamura collection, the classification of Nakamura collection and the study about Buddhist scriptures calligraphy. Chapter four summarized the inscriptions of Nakamura collection,then studied on classification, include the ancient inscriptions and present inscriptions. Chapter five discriminated seals firstly,then discussed related seals. Chapter six carried out comparative study about manuscripts which were discovered in Dunhuang or turpan and Japanese literature handed down from ancient times.
