Tailor-making hydroxyapatite-polymer composites as biomimetic substitutes are highlighted for cortical bone at the ultra-structural level of organic and inorganic components. Through researches, investigators find that biomaterials not only response in vivo passively during the tissue forming, its surface composition and microstructure also influence significantly on the cells action like adhesion, spreading, migration, proliferation and differentiation, matrix secretion and tissue fabrication etc.. The structure, growth and function of organism cannot be divided as a whole. Since it will contact and induce mutual reaction with biological system, biomaterials should be designed on different levels from macrostructure to microstructure. Till now, only very few of such research have been done. From the microstructure of nature bone, bone is a kind of nano apatite reinforced collagen composite with hydrophilic and hydrophobic separated microphase structure. The tropo-collagens arrange the same axle subtly to fabricate the collagen microfiber, in which separated microphase structure exists with 64 nm~70nm interval between polarity and nonpolarity area. Therefore, based on the knowledge of material science and biology, this dissertation will design a multi-level material structure by imitating the microstructure of bone, and by combining the polymer alloy technique of polyamide (PA) and polyethylene (PE) and the reinforcing technique of inorganic granules, to prepare a novel biomimetic composite, that is, hydroxyapatite, polyamide and polyethylene composite (HA/PA/PE) with biomimetic microstructure and good...
