ObjectivesWith development of our society and traffic, patients with Hangman's Fracture increased year by year. However, the basic study of this disease was seldom reported and opinions on treatment vary among scholars. Finite element analysis was a advanced method for biomechanical study of spine, and which was a valuable supplement to in vitro biomechanical study. The purposes of this study were: ① To develop finite element model of upper cervical spine (Compared with 0-C3), including disc, facet and major ligaments. For validation of the model, its ROM values were compared with ROM values determined in an in vitro study. ②Force loads inducing Hangman's fracture were applied to the model to analyzing the stress distribution. ③Different types of Hangman's fracture were established according to Levine-Edwards classification system and their biomechanical stabilities were evaluated. ④Stress changes of anterior and posterior C2-3 fusion was compared with normal model. ⑤To summarize and analyze the results of diagnosing and treating Hangman's fracture.Materials and Methods1.①A there-dimensional finite element model of C0-C3 was developed using...
