The finding of taxol as a new antitumor agent with novel mechanism has promoted chemical studies of the taxane diterpenoids and diterpene alkaloids of genus Taxus. This thesis mainly deals with the chemical studies on species of Taxus, and also on the species closely related with genus Taxus and the cell cultures of Taxus species. The following sections are included:1 Studies on the chemical constituents of Taxus wallichiana Zucc.Very few reports have appeared on the chemical study of Taxus wallichiana Zucc. indigenous to Tibet, China. In order to search for the source of taxol and other taxoids, the chemical constituents of its barks and needles were studied. From the barks of this plant, 15 compounds were isolated, among them,13 known compounds were identified by chemical and spectral methods as: taxol, cephaloman-nine,10-deacetyl baccatin III,2'-desacetoxy austrospi-catine,2-deacetoxy taxinine J,2-deacetoxy-5-decinnamoyl tacinine J,taxacustin,taxayuntin,7-xylosyl taxol,10-deacetyl-7-xylosyl taxol,10-deacetyl-7-xylosyl taxol C, β-sitosterol and daucosterol. The other two are new taxoids, named taxawallin A and B, their structures wereestablished by spectral, especially the ~1H-~1H COSY and HMBC methods. From the needles of this species,30 compounds were isolated.Nineteen known compounds were identified by chemical and spectral methods as: sinenxan A,10-deace-tyl baccatin V,taxol,cephalomannine,10-deacetyl-bacca-tin III,taxawallin A,decinnamoyl taxinine J, 1-acetoxy-5,7,10-trideacetyl baccatin I,7,3-diacetyl-7-debenzoyl...
