Leukemia is malignant tumor of hematopoiesis system whose symptom is that the cancerization cells in bone marrow multiply out of control which seriously invades other organs and even endangers the patient's life. Leukemia often occurs to teenage and children. When it strikes, it occurs most often in those parts of the body where bone marrow is concentrated. Since the cancerization cells and their surrounding tissues have roughly the same density and attenuation factor, it is difficult to detect the pathological changes with X rays. But the presence of leukemia in bone marrow causes an increase in the permittivity and a decrease in the conductivity of the bone marrow, which makes it possible to realize the nondestructive detection of leukemia and the real-time monitoring of the process of therapy in the treatment of leukemia by microwave measurement and microwave imaging. This dissertation does some research on applying microwave to nondestructively detecting leukemia There are six chapters in the dissertation. In chapter l,the significance and status of research background are discussed and the basic research method and assumption are presented. In chapter 2,the dispersion characteristics of the tissue of the lower leg are studied. How to obtain the dielectric parameters of the tissue in the model at the different frequencies is shown. The dielectric parameter algorithm of the disperse medium is emphasized. In chapter 3, the possibility of nondestructively detecting leukemia and monitoring the treatment process by microwave is discussed primarily. The two-dimensional simplified leukemia detecting model of the upper part of the lower leg is set up at the first time. FDTD method in the cylindrical coordinate system is used to analyze the model. In chapter 4, the microwave scattering characteristic of the upper part of the lower leg and the influence of the existing of leukemia on microwave scattering characteristic are analyzed. The optimistic work frequency, location of microwave source and the...
