Interleukin 13 (IL-13 ) is a recently described protein and a member of the family of hematopoietics. It is a potent in vitro modulator of B lymphocyte and monocyte functions. Recently, it was reported that it also could inhibit the HIV replication in monocytes and regulate proliferation and differentiation of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells. Along with the our present success of recombinant hIL-13 product, many novel roles of hIL-13 will be found.Chinese hIL-13 cDNA was cloned from mRNA isolated from the activated human lymphocytes by RT—PCR method and confirmed by DNA sequencing. It was found that the cloned hIL-13 cDNA encoding full IL-13 mature protein conformed with hIL-13 sequence reported by other authors. It encoded an additional Gln reside at position 98.Subcloned into high level expression vector pBV220 (which was constructed by our laboratory ), IL-13 cDNA was failed to express it. Then it was subcloned...
