Objective and significanceEpilepsy is an age-old cosmopolitan disease, the result of epidemiological investigation in our country to demonstrated that morbidity rate of epilepsy was 7.0‰, the morbidity rate of active epilepsy was 4.6‰. So,the people suffered epilepsy have been about 9 millions in our country, the people attacked in every year have been 6 millions. Epileptic and family have possibly to hide or to deny the health condition because orthodox prejudice of society, and epileptic beared a world of mental stress. It can't be ignored that the problems of medical treatment, family and social problem induced by epilepsy.In now, epileptic treatment still dependent on chemicals. General anti-epileptic drug(AEDs) can control epileptic attack from 70% to 80%, but security is a problem in long-term treatment ,and the method to treat refractoriness epilepsy by surgery is confined by its indication, high risks, expensiveness, and possibility of recur.So epileptic treatment still dependent on chemicals, and the original AEDs is needed urgently. It is our responsibility how to bring traditional Chinese drug into full play.
