Abstract/Summary:
With the improvement of shock resuscitation, anti-septicemia and nutritional support, the survival rate of patients with extensive deep burns has been increased remarkably. However, auto-skin donor sites were so few to be harvested in these patients that wound re-exposure, eschar infection, sepses and even MODS often occur, which remain the main cause of death after major burns. Prolonging the surviving time of the covering xeno-grafts or allografts plays an important role in protecting and facilitating the micro-autografts to proliferate, migrate and extend to recover the wounds, which has been the essencial approach for the survival of the patients with extensive deep burns. Recent researchs revealed that surrogate tolerogenesis and immunological tolerance in heart xeno-transplantation could be induced by chimeric donors who had received haematopoietic stem cells xenotransplantation during early gestation or neonatal stage. The mechanisms of these phenomena and whether surrogate tolerogenesis and immunological tolerance counld be induced by chimeric donors for xeno-skin grafting are still unknown. As we know that the difference of complement regulating proteins in different species was the main cause of acute rejection after xenotransplantation.
