During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the western started the science revolution, thus providing a background for medicine to develop. While in China, with the first map of the world brought by the foreign commissionaires which broadened it's view, western and eastern medicine clashed. Chinese medicine depended on the soil it grew on, vitality noumenon theory limited scientific cognition, especially that of Chinese medicine. It's symbol was the theory of seasonal febrile diseases became an independent theory but was also the end of Chinese classical medicine. After that, it's purpose was a supplement to modern medicine.
