Study On The Life Gate Theory

The life gate theory is an important component of the traditional Chinese medical theoretical system, which has the important value to the theoretical development and clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine. There are three parts in this thesis: firstly, the original history of the life gate theory and the differences of the life gate between Taoist and traditional Chinese medicine. Secondly ,the theoretical study on the life gate. Thirdly, the clinical study on the life gate.The original history of the life gate: In the one hand, term life gate is first recorded in Nei Jing, and Nan Jing is the first text to the mention the life gate theory. In the other hand, term life gate has also recorded in Huang ting jing in many times, which the sutra of Taoist published in Qing-Han periods. Based on the systematic collection and analysis on the previous academic documents about the life gate and the life gate theory, combining with the philosophical and science and technology background the theory was produced. The alchemy and Nei dan shu(内丹术) are the unique important role in the origin and development. The thesis gives a comment on the academic origin of the life gate theory, an exploration of the theoretical essence of the life gate theory and summarized elucidation about the life gate and its function. The life gate is the Huang ting or TaiJi of the human body and the origin of the human life. The theoretical study on the life gate: the shapeless congenital Yin and Yang are transformed from the Qi of TaiJi, and subsequently they produce the shaped acquired Yin and Yang. That is, first the life gate, then the five Zang-viscera; first the life gate, then the kidney. The congenital water and fire contained in the life gate being as the original substance basis and the foundational motivity source makes the life gate not being affiliated itself to the kidney, but the central organ directing the five Zang-viscera and controlling the whole body. The congenital water and fire contained in the life gate ( original Yin and original Yang ) can not be divided and the relationship between them is interdependent, not restricted. The shaped acquired fire can be restricted by the shaped acquired water, the shapeless congenital fire can be promoted by the shapeless congenital water. Being good at supplementing Yang, the person must be acquainted with the rule of "seeking Yang from Yin", while being good atsupplementing Yin, the person must be familiar with the regulation of "seeking Yin from Yang" …… Of all academic opinions about the life gate theory, some have already been accepted by the Chinese medical scholars today. Modern researches indicated that the life gate is a very complicated system in the human body, whose functions are involved in many endocrine organs, such as hypothalamus, adrenal gland and sexual gland, and it also keeps in touch with central nervous system, vegetative nervous system, immune system and substance metabolism. So the study on the essence of the life gate should depend on showing its broad, important and regulating functions sufficiently. Furthermore, doing the research on integration and from multi-level, multi-system and multi-factor will be more persuasive to explore the essence of the life gate and to learn about the truth of the life gate.There are four spectrums of anatomical picture about life gate from Daoism sutras published in Tang-song period, which are the oldest anatomical picture and the oldest note about Nan Jing in the history of China.The application study on the life gate: This part of disquisition based on the investigation of 51 books of the Chinese traditional medicines had published from the year of 1234 to 1904, which alleviation of clinical symptoms of life gate. In addition, 306 clinical cases about life gate had been selected from approximately 15800 clinical cases . the study analyzed the herbs which alleviation of clinical symptoms of life gate, and discussed the class, character, channel-tropism, taste of the herbs. the study also...
