The occurrences and catastrophes of migratory pests connected with the habitude of their sources, the patterns of migrations, the taking-off and landing mechanisms in most inseparable associations. In these factors, the taking-off and landing mechanisms is one of factors with the greatest effect and one of the factors deciding on the degrees of the endangering and catastrophe. Nilaparvata lugens ( Stal) is a kind of important pest which have been endangering rice growth in China and some other countries and regions in Asia. It has the qualities of migration in long distance and outburst endangers. In China, brown planthoppers survive and endanger in the tropical regions of the southern Guangdong Province and the southern Guangxi Municipality, the Taiwang Island, the Hainan Island, and the southern Yunnan Province during spring and winter seasons in every year. In the interim period from spring season to summer season of every year, BPH's populations begin their migrations northward, land and endanger the greater part of the austral regions of Yangtze Valley in succession. During midsummes, they migrate into the area between the Ynagtze Valley and the Huaihe River or the boreal regions, land and jeopardize Chinese main rice-growing regions. At the end of summer and the beginning of autumn of every year, the migrations backward launch. After it, the similar landing and imperiling processes turn round. This kind of migrations northward and southward, landing and endangering processes brings to the greater loss of rice production in China, especially, the cases would be more serious in the catastrophic years of the pest. Because of the landing processes is one of the most complicated behaviors in BPH's migration processes, except the physiological and ecological mechanisms of the pest itself, the environmental backgrounds, particularly atmospheric backgrounds, had to be consider in BPH's landing events. But so far, in all related researches about BPH throughout the country and abroad, the exact landing mechanisms included dynamical meteorological mechanisms has not been explored systematically yet. Therefore, based on the past and present BPH's researches, set the...
