| Sugarcane is an important sugar and energy crop. In sugarcane production, nitrogen fertilizer and water are two most important factors. In theory, the yield and economic potential of sugarcane production should be higher as a high light efficiency C4 crop. But in practice, a mount of input of nitrogen fertilizer has led to significant decreases in the economical benefit and formed a serious negative effect on the sustainable agricultural development.Nitrogen fixation is probably the second most important biochemical pathway after CO2 fixation on the earth. Utilization of biological nitrogen fixation is an important approach to solve lots of problems about population, food, energy and environment. On the base of sugarcane associative nitrogen fixation, it is more important for sustainable agriculture development to make full use of biochemical nitrogen fixation characteristics of sugarcane to improve its yield and decrease the production cost.At present, the research of associative nitrogen fixation of sugarcane was highly active in Brazil, but the relevant reports were much less in native. In order to exploit the nitrogen fixation characteristics of sugarcane and understand the effect of different regional environments on the biochemistry of nitrogen fixation and provide the reference to sugarcane scientific research and production, the present experiment was conducted with the sugarcane varieties introduced from Brazil and cultivated in Guangxi province. The main contents of this paper include measuring the nitrogenase activity of different sugarcane varieties, isolating and identifying the endophytic nitrogen-fixing bacteria from different parts of different sugarcane varieties, studying the biological characteristics of several nitrogen -fixation bacteria with high nitrogease activity, and investigating the relationship between the nitrogenase activity of different sugarcane varieties and several enzymes relevant to nitrogen metabolism. The main results were... |
