A new bionics propulsion equipment—fishlike flexible tail fin propulsion equipment is brought forward, because there are some problems in present thrusters, such as big noise, low propulsion efficiency in shallow water and evident wake. The computation and experimental study on the single-hydrofoil flexible tail fin model and the doule-hydrofoil flexible tail fin model have been made in the following work. The work of the article is involved in fish biomechanics, machine, material, control technology and so on.The intention of the article is to analyse the hydrodynamics performance of hydrofoil flexible tail fin model and to provide some proofs for the new bionics propulsion method. The first step of the article is to analyse the single-hydrofoil flexible tail fin in theory and experiment, and some influence upon propulsion performance induced by movement and structural factors. The second step of the article is to make hydrodynamics computation on double-hydrofoil flexible tail fin and find the contribution to propulsion performance mady by arch degree of tail fin.The vortex lattice method is used in the article, and some reformation is done in numerical model. The main work of the article includes:1.background and shortcomings in present propulsion mothods, the merits of tail fin propulsion and the general situation in its study;2.the introduction of usual methods in analyzing hydrofoil propulsion, especial vortex lattice method(VLM);3.putting forword single-hydrofoil flexible tail fin model based on inheriting the former's study achievements and applied requirement in ship shape, numerical computation & experiment study of single-hydrofoil flexible tail fin, and applying nonlinear trailing vortex surface in static water.4.bringing forward double-hydrofoil flexible tail fin model, making computation, giving the result and providing the proof for the next work—multi-hydrofoil flexible tail fin study.
