To design a new type of double locking titanium cable internal fixation system in accordance with the anatomic and MRI features of the cervical spinal canal and spinal cord of the Chinese people. In this experiment, six specimens of the atlantoaxial complex (C0-C3) are used. We compare the mechanical properties and biomechanical performances of various wire and cable fixation devices currently used in the spine surgery on the wd-5 mechanics experimental machine, and compare the effects of various fastening strengths and locking methods on the stability of the specimens, thus provide information that will assist in selecting different cables for different clinical applications. The biomechanical characteristics and mechanical properties of the new type double locking titanium cable fixation system were superior or similar to the traditional Songer or Axis titanium cable. Fastening the cable in both sides at the same time will result better effect of fixation than fastening both cable in turn. The effects of fixation will be better if we fasten the specimen again after the fastened unstable specimens having a rest. On the same time, the new type double locking titanium cable fixation system was safer and easier to place.
