People have paid more and more attention to the environment as the development of industrialization in the world. It bears an important significance to environmental and ecological protection in developing environmental friendly lubricants. The often used environmental friendly lubricants are mainly contained of synthesized lubricants and vegetable oils. Vegetable oils are solar products which are reproducible source. But their practical application is limited because of the bad oxidation stability (there are unsaturated bonds in the molecular) and bad low-temperature viscosity. A series of dimmer acid esters were aynthesized according to the isomerization theory which consumedly ameliorated low-temperature viscosity of vegetable oils. Saturated restructured soybean oil was synthesized by saturating and isomerizing the double bonds which consumedly enhanced the antioxidation of vegetable oil. The tribological and rheological characteristics, oxidation stability, biodegradability and tribological mechanism were stuied in this paper. Furthermore, the foreground of restructured soybean and Di-iso-octanol dimmer acid ester were evaluated too.A series of dimmer acid esters were synthesized through optimizing test. They have higher viscosity index (VI 135-148), good temperature viscosity, low pour point (-33—49°C) which is far lower than that of vegetable oil. It was discovered through the study of influence with structure that dynamic viscosity, VI, antiwear ability and PB value increase with alkyl chain, while pour point decreases. Dynamic viscosity, antiwear ability and PB value increase with the degree of isomerization, while VI and pour point decreases. Tribological and Rheological characteristics of Di-iso-octanol dimmer acid ester are the best (VG 100#, VI 141, pour point -49°C, PB 921N, D30196N 0.48mm) among the synthesized dimmer acid esters. Its integrated characteristics are better than those of Pentaerythritol esters (VG 32#, VI 140, pour point -35°C, PB412N, D30'196N 0.69mm). The wear scar based on Di-iso-octanol dimmer acid ester is smoother, leveler and smaller than that of Pentaerythritol esters, soybean oil and mineral oil (32#). It may be caused by the...
