A classical automotive hand control transmission can not be updated to satisfy the requirements of comfort, safety and environmental-protection for a heavy truck. The Automated Mechanical Transmission (AMT) by electrical control is an ideal solution for this issue. At the present time, the AMT is already widely applied in the construction of heavy trucks abroad, but related technologies in the domestic industry are mainly focused on small-scale personal cars; the AMT application to heavy trucks is almost nonexistent. In this paper, a new-generation HOWO heavy truck from China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corp. is regarded as the researched object; some key technologies in the heavy truck AMT are studied with the purpose of providing basic theories and application technologies for the investigation and development of domestic heavy truck AMT application. The main innovative work in this paper is summarized as:The classical AMT, as one kind of automotive electrical control technology, employs a closed structure; the disadvantages of such a closed automotive electrical control system are becoming more and more pronounced with the development of modem science & technology. A new open automotive electrical system based on quantum frame is established in this paper. The quantum frame is adopted as the system embedded software bus; the application software is then separated from the operating system platform, which will assist the achievement of an open system on software level. Such architecture can bring the automobile electrical control system an open property to a maximal extent.The test bench is an important approach to validate the AMT system performance. A full-scale experimental setup is much closer to reality but rather expensive, hence a half-scale simulation test system was built up in this paper, based on the dSPACE system. This system, whose core is a dynamic simulation model, is mainly composed of 3 internal related subsystems, which are accelerator, clutch and gearbox respectively. With the purpose of evaluating the influence on the mechanical, the electronic and the driver personnel systems applied by the AMT system, a dynamic model of the integrated mechanical-electronic-personnel system is built up and in it a mechanic system dynamic model based on the finite state machine is set up to perform each possible state analysis of the mechanic system in order to obtain its dynamic characteristics.
