The heat transfer characteristics of the two -phase thermosyphon (closed and semi - open) such as: working fluid choice, boiling heat transfer of large pool and small pool, condensation heat transfer in vertical cooling section and horizontal cooling section, thermodynamic analysis, external heat transfer at air side, length ratio between heating section and cooling sections and computer aided design and drawing are studied systematically.1. Semi - open thermal dynamic heat pipe (SOTHP) is one kind of semi - open two - phase thermosyphons. it was invented by the Heat Pipe Research Group of Zhejiang University (Patent NO. 94206102.0). It has many advantages as simple structure, reliable performance and low cost It is being widely applied to waste heat recovery in some areas. In this thesis, boiling heat transfer and condensation heat transfer in SOTDHP and TDHP (Thermal dynamic Heat Pipe) are studied in chapter 4 and Chapter 6.2. The present author and co-workers of Zhejiang University pay attention to research & develop the heat exchangers by using two - phase thermosyphon (closed and semi- open) with two cooling sections or one cooting section alternatively cooled by two different fluids. In this thesis, the following chapter are concerning the heat transfer characteristics of this thermosyphon : Chapter 5 for condensation, Chapter 7 for thermodynamic analysis, Chapter 9 for length ratio and Chapter 10 for CAD (design & drawing) and application of this thermosyphons.3. Two general problem for two phase thermosyphon are studied: Chapter 3 for working fluid choice and Chapter 8 for heat transfer of new extended surface at air side.
