On The Openization Of Architectural Process

The openization of architectural process is the main topic of this dissertation. "Process" is not only the central concept of the dissertation, but also the way architecture exists. The whole architectural process is the dynamic integration of the five sub-process: decision-making, design, building, using and backout. This process has it inherent continuity and rules.Recurring to the pointview of process, this dissertation is to study the sub-processes of architectural process and the interrelations between them holistically from the angle of time, emphasizing the meaning of time in architectural process. On the basis of this, the dissertation hopes to find mechanism and ways helpful to the practice.From the theory of "process" in philosophy, the dissertation explains the meanings of both architectural process and openization of architectural process. After the study of "Creature-liking Phenomenon" of architectural process, architecture as a compound time-space system, and the macro-orientation model of architecture, the dissertation explores the "degree" of openization. From the discussing of status and function of architects in architectural process, the dissertation points out the important premises to realize the openization of architectural process is to realize the openization of architectural process to architects, giving them corresponding status and rights, helping them become the key organizers and leaders of the whole architectural process. From the discussing of ensuring mechanism, the dissertation tries to construct a four-force restricting mechanism to balance the four forces directly related to architectural process, discussing the helpful ways in practice. From the angle of design studying, the dissertation shows that architects can do a lot in design process to foster the openization of architectural process. At last, on the deeper thinking of the "Creature-liking Phenomenon" of architectural process, this dissertation shows that architecture should learn from big trees, should find deep-seated attributes it should possess from the comparison with big trees.
