The analysis of high arch dam including cross-joint should be considered as a 3D elasto-plastic contact problem. The linear complementarity method (LCM) for 3D elasto-plastic contact problem and the non-entirety analysis of arch dam were studied in this dissertation. The main contents are as follows:1. The status of the research for non-entirety analysis of arch dam and joint models commonly used were reviewed. The FEM analysis for contact problem, i.e., iterative method, contact constraints method and mathematical programming method, were summarized.2. A compact Lemke's algorithm was presented as the improvement of Lemke's complementary pivoting algorithm. It reduces data storage and computing cost effectively.3. The principle of virtual work with complementarity and the The principle of energy with complementarity for elasto-plastic problem were educed and a FE-linear complementarity model was proposed with the linearization of yield function.4. The existence and uniqueness of solution for comlementarity function of elasto-plastic problem were studied and a sufficient condition was proposed.5. A iterative-linear complementarity method for elasto-plastic problem was proposed, which approximates nonlinear yield function well and enlarges the utilization of LCM.6. A constitutive model of 3D contact with friction is established with the use of penalty parameter and an incremental statement of problem is carried out. The function of virtual work with complementarity for 3D frictional contact problem is educed and an incremental FE-LCM is also proposed.7. A FE-LCM program is developed for the analysis of 3D frictional contact problem and many examples verified the correctness of the model, method and program.8. The influence of cross-joint and process of constructing and storing water by stages on dam structure were studied with the consider of ERTAN arch dam and some valuable results were obtained.
