The optimization is a widely used discipline, which discusses the characters of optimal choice on decision problems and constructs computing approaches to find the optimal solution. Due to the advancement of society and the development of science and technology, the optimization problems are often discovered in the field of economic planning administration, engineering design, production management, traffic transportation, national defence and so on. They are so important that meet with much recognition. With the speedy development of computer and the hard work of scientists, the theoretic analysis and computational methods on optimization have been highly improved.The problems like regularity of the maximum velocity's change of the multi-stage rocket of parallel-series type are some nonlinear programming problems which are difficult to find their analytical solutions, but in this paper, we get some fruits with optimization method.Chapter 2, the expressions of characteristic velocity for a multi-stage rocket of parallel-series type or a space shuttle being used today are given. The regularity of the maximum velocity's change of a multi-stage rocket when the effective jet velocity of every stage increases in order is obtained, and a series of questions just like the plan of maximal maximum velocity are solved at the same time. Finally the difference of dynamic character between the multi-stage rocket of series and the parallel type is pointed out.Chapter 3, giving the case in point of the single-stage rocket which has one set of boosters, it obtains the regularity when w1 > w2, discusses the maximum velocity plan at this situation, gives a method for seeking the maximum velocity expression, and answers a series of questions as the best propellant plan etc. It also gives the counterexample to explain that it is unnecessary to top up the booster and the store box.Chapter 4 is the application of above productions. Analyzing the expressions of characteristic velocity for multi-stage rocket, it points out the affinity between the maximum payload and the best propellant plan, and the consistency between the payload's lightened and the fewest fewest propellant plan. Thus it solves the questions of maximum payload and payload's lightened.In the last part, it gains the optimization rule for the multi-stage rocket which has multi-boosters in development, and gets hold of the optimum firing order for a formed step-rocket when the jet velocities are equal. Furthermore, the optimization rules when the effective jet velocity strictly increases in order was also obtained, and for the formed step-rockets in this case, it gives the optimum firing order. At last it gets a simpler way to discuss the above questions again.
