In this paper, the laws of liquefaction reaction of different metamorphic rank coal were studied in comparison, and the effect of the coal rank, ash, volatile matter and H/C atomic ratio on liquefaction reaction were investigated. The effects of the initial water content of coal on liquefaction reactivity were studied by controlling the coal initial water content. The brown coal and long flame coal were selected, which have representability and operability, and hydrothermal pretreatment on liquefaction reactivity were studied. Also, the swelling pretreatments of coal in THF and IPA on liquefaction reactivity were studied, and the effects of solvent, swelling time and swelling temperature were investigated respectively. The changing laws of pressure in the process of coal liquefaction reaction were analyzed, and the characteristics of different pretreatment effects on coal liquefaction reaction were confirmed. The mechanism of initial water content, hydrothermal pretreatment and organic solvent swelling pretreatment in the liquefaction processes was also analyzed and discussed.
