Polymer extrusion process is the important method for plastic product processing, which is suitable for making tubes, bars , films, filament, wire, cable, profile and hollow products., and it has developed to be a important field in manufacturing. For current design of polymer extrusion process and dies, conventional empirical design and routine experiment can not direct production well, while computer aided engineering has dramatic advantage in waving cost and increasing efficiency. With development of computer hardware and computer fluid dynamic, three-dimensional finite element simulation of polymer extrusion process becomes to be real. Full detail knowledge during forming process can be given by using numerical simulation, which could support for process design and dies optimization. As a result, numerical simulation for polymer extrusion has been an important subject for process and dies design. In this paper, the modeling for three-dimensional incompressible viscous non-isothermal steady flow is presented by using penalty finite element method. The modeling is been applied in the simulation for polymer extrusion process. Coextrusion process of polymer with metal insert is studied further, and the influence of main factor for forming process is given. The finite element modeling for three-dimensional steady viscoelastic flow is presented. Many key technology for polymer extrusion numerical simulation is studied, and the computer simulation system of polymer extrusion is developed.Because finite element method could handle the problem with irregular geometry boundary and complex boundary easily, so it becomes the common way of the CFD research. In this paper, taking the example of Power-law model and Carreau model, the finite element modeling for three-dimensional incompressible viscous non-isothermal steady flow is presented. The continuity equation is introduced into momentum equation by penalty finite element, so pressure is needless to be solved directly, and the velocity is solved with incompressible constraint condition approximately. As a result, the...
