With the development of science and technology fire detection technology developed continuously from initial smoke detection and heat detection to current gas detection. In order to put out the fire earlier and give more time for people to evacuate and protect the people's life, we must develop the fire detect technology.We analyzed the fire detection technology nowadays and in the past. The sensors must be more sensitive and credibility. In most instance fire gas appears earlier, so we choose fire gas as the main characteristics to detect fire.Diode laser absorption spectroscopy was used to the fire gas detection field. Fire gas was becoming a important fire detection method for people. Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy was a high sensitive gas analysis method. The direct absorption spectroscopy and the wavelength modulation absorption spectroscopy and frequency modulation absorption spectroscopy were analyzed for their characteristics and were described by their theoretic.Tunable diode laser with the characteristics of the narrow spectral line width and the rapid wavelength modulation is the perfect light source used in the field of trace gas monitoring. The monitoring system employing the tunable diode laser is a new method with the characteristics of high resolution, high sensitivity and short response time.We established the tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy system and used it in fire gas detection in experiment. We also developed tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy system for natural gas line leakage detection.
