The Qingshui-Sujiquan fault belt extends in eastern Junggar region. It played important role in the tectonic evolution and controlled the gold mineralization in this area. Based on investigations on cutting-relationships between geologic bodies and micro- and macro-structural fabrics in the Shuangquan deposit area, two deformation stages, ductile oblique-slip thrusting and brittle faulting, have been identified. Ductile deformation fabrics include compressional schist foliation, rotated porphyroclasts, elongated quartz strips, etc. Cataclasts resulted from brittle faulting occur widespread in the Shuangquan gold deposit, and form economical ore bodies. Ductile deformation took place prior to brittle faulting and was overprinted and reworked by the later.Based on the field studies,"Quickbird"remote sensing image interpretations, field observations and occurrence measurements of gold-bearing veins and foliations, this paper suggestes that gold mineralization of the Shuangquan deposit is closely associated with the later brittle deformation stage; gold might be initially enriched in the earlier ductile deformation stage. Gold deposits, geochemical and remote sensing alteration anomalies distribute NWW along the Qingshui-Sujiquan belt, which controlled two largest deposits in this area, i.e. Shuangquan and East Sujiquan deposits.Alteration minerals, sericite and quartz, were separated from ores in for to gold mineralization dating employing laser microprobe 40Ar/39Ar method. These minerals yield isochron ages between 269±9Ma and 260±4Ma, which were interpreted as mineralization ages and therefore firstly provide the precise gold mineralization age in Kalamaili area. It is proposed that gold mineralization took place during tectonic regime transition between regional compression to extension; contemporarily, the ductile oblique-slip thrusting has changed to brittle faulting and facilitated gold mineralization in this area.According to this study results of structural ore-controlling rules and combining with geochemical primary halos in this area, we predicted two prospecting targets in the deep of the Shuangquan mine, one of which has been confirmed by drilling. Based on regional geochemical and remote sensing alteration anomalies, we also proposed three prospecting sections along the Qingshui-Sujiquan fault belt in the Shuangquan area.
